He was the long time incumbent.
It's one thing to lose, another to be beaten like a drum.
He pissed off conservatives because he voted for trillions in liberal spending as he sidled up to the union thugs.

Santorum backed Spector because he is a big government non-libertarian.....or maybe he just has really bad judgement and can't be trusted. It's one of those two. The fact that he backed Spector should concern you.
