Scientist's lean 80% Democratic and 51% call themselves liberals 80% of scientists live sheltered academic lives totally removed from the realities of the world. They never have to produce anything that people willingly pay for. Their output is peer reviewed research, but the peers are all from that same world. Of course they are Democrats. Engineers who build on science to create useful things are overwhelmingly Republican and conservative. It is natural for those who inhabit the real world.
