I agree with De Borchgrave if he is suggesting that the war will be started by Obama.

Several days ago, Walter Russell Mead expressed his belief that Israel will not attack Iran in the fall. They will either attack in the spring or wait until after the U.S. Presidential election. The last thing that Israel wants is for Obama to be reelected and Israel believes that a fall war would all but guarantee Obama a second term because the American people always rally around their President in a time of foreign crisis.

I am cynical enough to believe that if Obama is trailing in the polls in the fall, he will precipitate some sort of military confrontation – maybe even a war – in the Mideast.

Israel knows that Obama will have no choice politically (even if his heart says otherwise) but to support Israel in a conflict with Iran. They do not want to give him a gift.

The Mideast will continue to deteriorate this year as the Islamists assume greater control and begin to turn the screws on the so-called moderates and remaining minorities (particularly Christians), but maybe not to the point where the bulk of the American people actually notice. Whoever inherits this mess (assuming it is not Obama) is going to have a very rough ride. One of Obama’s legacies.

Thanks for posting this article.

Rarely does the average citizen recognize what has happened in China and in WWII and other wars. De Borchgrave has stated this clearly. I am aware but have never seen the statistics written down as De Borchgrave done.

This is a keeper and one to be shared.
