Thanks for the article. Another example of confused thinking that feeds into the denier mindset.

If a city or state spends money to handle the effects of climate change - such as how will we get water, or energy - that is what they are suppose to do. That's just trying to react to the situation and figure out how a city or state will survive.

Texas - to cite a current example - is now spending many millions on "climate change". Terrible! Why? Well, because Texas water supply is running low and agriculture is imperil, not to mention its cities. So they have to react to the shifting climate, develop plans and put them into place. Otherwise everyone will have to move to Canada eventually, which will make Canadians very unhappy.

But by the reasoning of this article, all that is part of the conspiracy and this money is going straight into the hands of the global scientific community who are perpetuating this "scam". By the denier mindset, even reacting to a problem - such as diminishing water - is forbidden and proof of a vast conspiracy. I guess they'd rather see Texas dry up and die.

And sure, oil firms can spend money any way they want, even if it's done secretly, and with intent to mislead, and leads to the destruction of our country. Free speech and all. We must guard their right to do so at all cost, I'm sure you would agree.
