MANY people in America are descendants of people who were married and were first cousins! After all when they first got to America, there weren't many others to marry. Plus they married to keep the land in one family.... They didn't know about possible birth defects then....but I wonder how many of those defects today came from those early intermarriages....Today, we are SO PC, we can't even say 'defects'.... I think we are supposed to say "health issues"....
