This article entitled "yellow peril" was followed with a disclaimer for a reason. In one of the newsletters that I receive they mentioned this letter. The article was written by someone in research in a regional Reserve Bank, and it was not taken seriously by upper management within the Fed. If you had a monopoly on a rare hard asset and could profit from derivatives and writing option writing while controlling the price, why would you kill the golden goose?
