They seem to want things that help them and not want things that help others.

This can be said of everyone. It certainly can be said of every current political party.

I think you'll find people on Soc. Sec. that say they are Tea Party people yet would object to ANY cuts in Soc. Sec. or even raising the age.

And there are people in the democrat party who oppose sanctification for gay unions. There are Republicans who support progressive taxation. Some people see the larger picture yet affiliate with groups they do not entirely agree with.

Same thing for some that are getting government subsidies for farmland that ISN'T being farmed.

Cancel the Iowa Caucus and see how long farm subsidies remain part of any "solution" to any problem.

Same thing for a lot of politicians that say they want everybody to be able to carry guns EVERYWHERE, but not where THEY work.

You mean like the NIMBY liberals who support wind power anywhere but within view of their MArtha's Vineyard mansion? Or who support public access to beaches except in their toney Beverly Hills neighborhood? etc. ad infinitum.

The Tea Party is about returning to the governing principles of our founding fathers. These are principles of individual responsibility and rewards reaped from accomplishing things. The Tea Party Patriots support a limited role for the federal government. This leaves states free to provide as much or as limited services as they please.

As with every other organization you cannot fairly judge the Tea Party by how the America hating elite media tries to portray them. I don't judge any group by one member, but by the majority of them.

The Tea Party was opposite the Occupy deadbeats. No-one was raped at any Tea Party event. They always left the site cleaner than they found it. They were respectful towards friends and foes alike. I cannot imagine a better group of people to be identified with than the Tea Partiers.
