Ron Paul worked with Gingrich in Congress and, as is true for many that worked with Newt, grew to hate him and his bad organization and leadership failings. Paul dislikes Santorum because Santorum is the opposite of a libertarian - Santorum wants to preach to people about how they should live their lives and libertarians hate that.

Typical politician gambit to answer the question you want to reply to versus the one actually posed.

This is why I hardly ever watch political debates. All they do is give their canned answers. If a question doesn't elicit a canned answer, they shoehorn it in, anyway. Waste of time.
