'cutting gov spending will hurt the economy' In the short run, this is unquestionably true. If Romney were to layoff 100,000 federal workers, that would hurt the economy immediately, with benefits far in the future. It seems like he is being honest, rather than pandering to the voters by telling they can have it all. The road to recovery will be painful, but the sooner we start the less painful. A leader who is honest about should have a better chance of getting the public to accept the pain.
