The fact that Apple bought the trademark in a trademark-owning entity or an IP owner set up to do that doesn't give the claimant grounds to undo the deal.

Agree. It's just extortion. To Apples credit they are fighting it. Might even cost them more than settling, but then the next guy would be that much more likely to try the same thing.

$100Billion in cash is a good thing, but it also makes you a huge, obvious target for any and every shyster.

Absolutely right. Proview's mention of the non-compete clause of the contract is bogus, too. Proview is no longer making the product they called the iPad, and it wasn't a tablet anyway.

Do you recall how The Walt Disney Company or Disney assembled its land in Orlando? Do you think they went to a property owner and said, "Disney would like to buy your land?"

Well, perhaps in China they do business in a more open straightforward and honest manner?

Rhetorical. I am not responsible for your keyboard.

Talk about seller's remorse! What Proview deserves is a swift kick in the arse that sends it flying back to the hole from which it crawled, nothing more. I'm hoping a US court delivers just that.
