What they're not saying and may not even know is that most retirees (in California) from the police, fire, and other departments in city government retire at or near what their top salary was -- same for schools workers at all levels including janitor. Even those who work at the county level get amazingly generous retirements, including health care for themselves and their spouses (and shackup-mates) for life. It is not sustainable when the taxpayers on the hook for paying those retirements are making much less WHILE WORKING.
