Re: Yahoo research person

You said:
Pierre-X, Yahoo research has recently shown a number of analysts moving down to "hold" but lists revised EPS at $2.34 "this year" and $3.12 "next year". It's a long way from $3.12 down to Zacks' $1.50 -- especially for a well-run company with an excellent brand image.

Craig might I suggest you expand your research horizons beyond Yahoo. They update their research data every other full moon or so. <g>

RESEARCH ALERT - Western Digital (NYSE:WDC) lowered
Reuters, Tuesday, November 18, 1997 at 11:50

NEW YORK, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Lehman Brothers said analyst
Kimberly Alexy downgraded data storage products maker Western
Digital Corp to neutral from outperform.
-- said company provided analysts guidance on its second
half fiscal 1998 performance at the Comdex trade show in Las
Vegas.

-- Alexy said in summary report the guidance led to Lehman
cutting its fiscal 1998 earnings per share estimates on Western
Digital "yet again" to $1.60 from $2.00.

Note the "company guidance" part. From the horse's mouth, they expect to earn in the $1.50 to $1.70 range in F98.

I am not short WDC. I can't speak for the Zacks people. <g>

I'm curious about why you think the company is well run. I personally think some of their divisions haven't a clue, like this SDX CDROM accelerator flop. But I'm open to evidence.

P.S. Viewsonic rocks. My VS P810 is the best monitor I've ever used, and I've used a lot of other high end 21" screens like the NEC XP21 and the Mitsubishi DiamondTron 21.
