Yes, I think something is missing, but I don't know what. Even the pre-recession values of 60 mil gal/day would be less than 10% of total US oil consumption. Another chart from the same site shows 9 mil barrels/day of gasoline, approximately 1/2 of total refinery output.

Whatever that chart means, the implications for the overall economy can't be good.
