Imagine if America ALREADY HAD $5 gas, with $2 being a tax to support alternative energy. Obama could grant a tax holiday, giving Americans some relief from the true cost of gasoline. I imagine that's what a lot of Euro countries will do, as they already have high gas taxes.

It's spitting distance now. $3.7x here this morning... and damn the tank is almost empty. He'll probably do the strategic reserve at some point.

LOL. You said it best. Taxes exist so that politicians can give a tax holiday. Never let it be said that taxes exist to fund the services we need. That would be hoping for too much. Fiscal discipline, phooey.
