That's the main reason why good people don't run for public office, they have to be liars to get votes because people don't want to hear the truth... GZ

Thanks. I wrote letters to the Editor maybe 20 years ago to the SJ Mercury news that got published where I warned all the bond measures and high government salaries etc. in CA would hurt us in the long run. Teachers and others wrote and said I was "selfish" for not wanting to pay more taxes and the Libertarians contacted me and asked me to run for office! I could never succeed in politics as I am not "diplomatic" plus I'd rather windsurf but I can continue to do what I can to help others see the issues. I also put my efforts to investing to make enough I'll do fine no matter who they screw things up but.... I feel sad for those with children and grandchildren. Interesting discussion with a 79 yr old neighbor this weekend at a cocktail party. He asked how I felt about the market (he's the only one who asks these days...) I said I had a hard time getting too excited with all the unfunded liabilities his and my generations rang up on society. He said I wasn't doing my part by having no kids o pay into Social Security. He had 3 and they all live out of state. I told him it is the opposite. HE had three kids that took $10K per year each in education today's dollars to educate so they could leave the State and pay taxes elsewhere... while I had no kids so didn't suck free services from society... and he's getting a ton more from Social Security and Medicare than I'll probably ever see..... I almost felt bad with the look on his face.... I don't think most people think they ARE the problem....
