The Forest Service and national forests have always been under the Dept. of Agriculture since inception. The Park Service and Bureau of Land Management are both in the Dept. of Interior. There have been moves to move the Forest Service, but I would like to keep it in the Dept. of Agriculture because of the forest management mission, which is much more like agriculture than national parks. The BLM was formed to dispose of unneeded federal lands, but that mission went by the wayside long ago.
