That's right, he thinks a runaway GH effect is going to turn earth into Venus. BTW he started climate modeling to come up with a theory for why Venus is the way it is ... and his current climate models are based on his Venus climate model.

What I think he said is what the reporter stated.

Hansen said current carbon levels in the atmosphere were already too high to prevent runaway greenhouse warming. Yet the levels are still rising despite all the efforts of politicians and scientists.

My interpretation of what he did say is that we are already past the tipping point and that reducing CO2 emissions is useless.

He stated in a 2008 paper that "We are at the tipping point because the climate state includes large, ready positive feedbacks"

Well, 4 years of additional CO2 emissions has certainly put us past the tipping point.
