If the Titanic had went straight in to the iceberg it probably would not have sunk. Trying to turn away allowed the ice berg to cut a gash through multiple compartments, sinking the ship.

Of course that's just a problem with the analogy, not the point behind it. The point is more important than the analogy, so I'll address that -

mel221 said that Hanson said that "reducing CO2 emissions is useless".

If that's true. If it is useless, then by definition it doesn't do any good, and there is no point in doing it. I didn't say its useless, Hanson did. I'm just responding to the point he made. If he's right, then "full speed ahead, ramming speed" makes sense. I take it you think Hanson is wrong on that point. I agree.
