Dwight,

Yeah, I have been following the Yamaichi strory on a different thread "Ask Mohan about the Market." Yamaichi story was known on Friday and so the market was depressed for most part of the day. Then, it rose because (?) traders felt it might not affect the US. But, I have genuine concerns.

I suppose the pressure on QNTM is competition from SEG and WDC, not from Asian problems. The currency devaluation helps these companies because they produce some of their components there. The companies affected are the ones who sell there, like INTC, SUNW, AMAT, etc., IMO.

Dwight K,

Yamaichi will be THE NEWS of the week.

As far as the US markets are concerned, the biggest worry is that Japanese banks could be forced to dump their U.S. Treasury holdings in order to raise liquidity. This obviously would result to a worrisome financial market outlook short-term. Like you, I will be on the sidelines and watch this Asian saga play out. I will be watching QNTM, WDC, AMAT, and CPQ closely.

Good luck.
