That's Apple's catch : never tell the user the upgrade may render the product slower than a molasses!

Got to admit.... it was like a rock before iOS5. Now, use it for a half hour and expect a couple of crashes. But that's all right, when my iPad 3 arrives in a couple of weeks it will be the wife's problem!

Got caught with iOS 4 on my iPhone 3g. What a fiasco! Won't happen again.<<

I think that's the only case where that has happened. I was running iOS 5 on my 3Gs, and while it wasn't as snappy as it is on the 4 or 4S, it was acceptable.
