The Occupy movement’s Boston chapter recently held a protest event in conjunction with the Nation of Islam to oppose what they called the “racist” closing of a local post office.

Boston’s Occupy4Jobs Feb. 18 meeting was held in the Nation of Islam’s Muhammad’s Mosque No. 11 in Grove Hall, located in a predominantly African American neighborhood just a block away from the Grove Hall Post Office, which is slated for closing.

The event was co-organized by Nation of Islam Minister Don Muhammad, who is the leader of the Boston mosque.

According to a report in the communist Workers World magazine, Bob Traynham of the Occupy4Jobs Network led the crowd in the singing of the “Black National Anthem.”

Audrey Armand, a 27-year veteran worker at the Grove Hall post office, criticized the “racist targeting of this post” during a speech at the Occupy event, according to Worker’s World.

Continued the communist magazine: “Keynote speaker Larry Holmes, national coordinator of the Occupy4Jobs Network and First Secretary of Workers World Party, stirred the crowd with his descriptions of the beginnings of the global revolution against capitalism. He said that it started in Tunisia and Egypt, is expanding in Greece, Spain, Italy, Britain and elsewhere in Europe, and has arrived in the U.S. with the Occupy movement.”

“Holmes stressed that capitalism has no solutions for youth worldwide other than to build more jails,” added the magazine.

Muhammad, meanwhile, served on the transition team of Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and is also a member of Patrick’s public-safety advisory team.

Nation of Islam chief Louis Farrakhan was in the news earlier this week when he claimed that racism in America creates such a negative political climate it could lead to assassination attempts on Obama.

Obama closely linked to Nation of Islam

During the period of Obama’s attendance at Trinity United Church, which preaches the controversial black liberation theology, the Chicago church was openly allied with Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.

Obama’s pastor of some 20 years, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, gave Farrakhan his 2007 Empowerment Award. Farrakhan delivered guest lectures at the Trinity church.

WND previously reported Obama several times was on the cover of an anti-American magazine run by Wright, appearing in one issue alongside Farrakhan.

Wright accompanied Farrakhan to Libya in 1984 and has been involved in Farrakhan initiatives. He called Farrakhan “one of the most important voices in the 20th and 21st century” during a national address to the media in April 2008 at which Nation of Islam officials were invited guests.

Obama was elected to the Illinois state Senate in 1996, serving the 13th district, which then spanned Chicago’s South Side neighborhoods, including areas in which Farrakhan was considered to be highly influential.

Wright and Obama reportedly attended the Million Man March on Washington, led by Farrakhan and other prominent black leaders such as Al Sharpton.

Marxist activist Cornel West, an adviser to Farrakhan, also was an adviser to Obama’s 2008 campaign and is a close Obama associate and personal friend.
