Simple math will do it. 4000 lbs/hr X 24 hrs a day = 96,000 lbs per day 96,000 lbs per day / 2000 lbs per ton = 48 tons per day.

A process for producing synthesis gas from biomass, comprising (a) contacting said biomass with oxygen and steam, wherein said oxygen is present in an amount effective to oxidize said biomass and to heat said biomass to a temperature of at least 500C and no greater than 75OC; (b) treating at least a portion of the oxidized biomass produced in step (a) with oxygen and steam to heat said biomass to a temperature of at least 800C, thereby producing synthesis gas; and (c) recovering said synthesis gas produced in step (b).
