Yes, it is all so obvious when one has a measure of self honesty. I believe that Midge is aware at an inner level that his "faith" rests on wishful thinking that can no longer be rationalised. This is causing his rage against the messenger(s). I take no pleasure in his pain but I have never harmed a puppy! That is a vicious rumor! I did throw a stone at a porcupine when I was very little but this was when I was operating on instinct rather than reason. Probably a good survival strategy, though apparently I did not need a defense as I was not a natural prey for that little fellow. Well, enough about me! Did you ever kill a little puppy?! I am told that God kills a kitten whenever one masturbates or makes a woman moan, so I suppose I am well feared by the little furry creatures!
