Here's an example school policy requiring insurance from CU Boulder's website.

colorado.edu

My wife had a very good BCBS plan she had to drop when she started at CU Denver because the school required a certain deductible for mental health care and our plan was $500 less than the requirements. The school wouldn't waive it and she had to pay for the vastly inferior school coverage.

I had the same raw deal when I attended law school at the University of Utah. I would've rather saved the couple thousand dollars in borrowed money and paid the cash fee at the local medical clinic if needed.

I will have three Grandchildren with "Cadillac" health Ins though their Parents who will be under 26 and faced with the UC Calif System. Don't know the details of how it will work out.

My daughter and her husband would hate to see the kids lose their health Ins if the Obama plan is cancelled, I am sure.
