Been on the road and have not yet digested everything you wrote, much less thought of anything sensible to say in reply.

Does the price of coal track nat gas in the US? Or just coincidence that both are down? Do any of those co.s have lots of the high-grade stuff, metallurgical coal I think it is called? I think nat gas prices will go back up again at some point too, but I could not give you a reason why it should happen tomorrow or even within the next couple of years (or five yrs.). Do you? I noticed that Buffett bet on nat gas prices and it has not worked out yet, I think he may lose those bonds if there is not a recovery pretty soon, so it can happen to anyone.
