Main reason is that as long as the Japanese have less confidence
in their own economy it is likely that they will increasingly
buy foreign equities.

Second is that the Japanese hardly own foreign equities.
The major part of their foreign holdings are in SEA.
Only 3,1 % of their foreign holdings were European (end 1996).
And only 3,1 % of their foreign holdings were American (end 1996).

The article ended stating that European and American bourses
would benifit.
