As a capitalist and conservative, I applaud the wealthy, but wealth should certainly not arrive through government service. I think that all Sentors, Representatives, Justices, and Presidents should be very humble positions that are completely selfless and humble positions of servitude. It should be an honor and a privilege for men and women to seek the non-financial rewards that come from upholding the Constitution and representing their friends and neighbors.

Those bastards consistently vote themselves very substantial pay raises literally after midnight. Look it up.

Most people forget the original idea of government, or else they never understood in the first place. In the beginning, the Founders truly wanted everyone to have a full say, voice, and vote in the affairs of the nation. However, they realized that it was impractical for so many to leave their homes and work unattended and travel great distances to a place of meeting. Therefore, the idea that each little town would select a friend and neighbor to speak on behalf of the town and vote according to the will of the majority.

Like many beautiful plans of the Founders, it was eventually twisted and contorted into the very ugly system we have today; a system where the nation's populace is conveniently divided into rival groups where political support is evenly divided (approximately), thus producing many elections with "photo-finish" results, where the so-called unpledged delegates -- who answer to God-only-knows who -- weigh in and decide for us all. Those unpledged delegates are that small percentage who can vote for anyone they choose. How very convenient in close elections. Frankly, its an indefensible tactic.

Mitt Romney's Tax World, part 1 of 3

Because tax returns are confidential, Romney's release provides a glimpse as to how Wall St. tycoons (including Warren Buffet) game the system and wind up with a fraction of the tax rate imposed on the middle-class. This is the first of a three-part series that explores Mitt Romney's tax world, including his income and estate tax planning, as well as the corporate tax shelters he sanctioned as a director of Marriott International, Inc....
