He developed a lot of contempt for the modernised version of Christianity which he considered corrupted since Paul...because it took much less of a Warrior Path. But like all mentally ill people, he was guided and shaped by his ABSOLUTE immersion into the superstition, language, and study of the book (his bible is loaded with notes). He loved Martin Luther as a fellow German--and because Luther also saw Jesus as a warrior hero against the Jews (who, once again, were responsible for killing his hero), Hitler felt his battle to exterminate such "vermin" was a Righteous and very Christion endeavor. That CALLING he TRULY believed in--and so did all his main people. You are right, he wiped out atheism in Germany and much of his Christianity wags his very own brand of delusion. But this is no different than the fact that today there are 35,000 Christian sects who despise one another when push comes to shove because each alone holds God's Truth. Everyone should read several books on Hitler and his main people and the war, but you are right. It then becomes pointless to discuss him. Unfortunately we have a couple of Fundies on this thread who try to distort history in order to promote their own brand of Fascism. All of us can agree that Hitler was a sensitive and mentally ill individual. In the first world war (in which he twice received the iron cross) he suffered a classic case of hysterical amblyopia. He was also a loner with a severe personality disorder. It was only natural for such a nobody (who bummed the streets trying to sell post cards he had drawn) to become a God similar to Jesus. If it had not been Jesus, it would have been any other figure larger and grander than the human scum and mental weaklings he was surrounded by--in his own disturbed mind... But here is the really telling part. In spite of all he did and in spite of the universal consensus, in the end, that he was a freak--the Catholic Church claimed him as their own--and turned their eyes from his atrocities. They have excommunicated people for trifling "offenses", just because they had some religious doubts--but they kept Hitler as one of their own--NO EXCOMMUNICATION. This is NOT a trivial fact...
