Well... I really did appreciate electric lighting when it came along, (not to mention good sour mash bourbon <g>).

So much easier to read at night now that I don't have to oil down a peasant and light his hair on fire to produce sufficient illumination. (What? We always did it that way... don't tell me you did it differently at your family's ancestral compound?)
