Bob, please don't worry about that, I know it's not you, too many people want to blame the speculator at every opportunity... but, if I were a farmer in Iowa, I would be very happy for the speculators to run the price of corn through the roof... it would only mean I could hedge my cash crop at a much higher price than at current market prices, that's the whole purpose for the futures markets in the first place,it's about selling one's current cash crop at a higher price in the future before the crop is out of the ground... so, as a farmer or cattle rancher, speculators would make me very happy... and without the speculators in the market, the cash hedgers would have no real opportunity to hedge their crop at all... so many people are clueless about the role of speculators in the futures markets, they get blamed for everything, and most unfairly... it makes for good news headlines, but blaming the speculators only illustrates the ignorance of those doing the blaming...
