In general, they're idiots and cannot do basic arithmetic. That's the point. I asked both friends if they had made a reasonable evaluation of the crossover point at which they would come out ahead. It can be reasonably estimated except if/when the battery fails after the warranty runs out. Neither said they did an evaluation and one is an auto nut who works in the industry. Both their replies were essentially the same. "That's what she wanted and that's that"..................and so it was.
