Yes, it has always been like that. I believe Christianity in it's early days in Europe had similar restrictions of course that led to using the Jews as scape goats for centuries. As the French king becoming indebted to the Nights Templar he opted to destroy their good name and burn and torture those his army could locate. Note: Many in the OWS crown were chanting scape goat nonsense regarding Jews. A small note here from Wiki seems to indicate the muslims may have provided this "loop hole" to the Templars or vice versa , but no matter you are right....as always Tonto. ;^) Officially the idea of lending money in return for interest was forbidden by the church, but the Order sidestepped this with clever loopholes, such as a stipulation that the Templars retained the rights to the production of mortgaged property.
