Through the misrepresentation of the Bible by apostate Christianity the atheist and otherwise skeptical of the Bible itself find themselves only having a slight advantage over the average believer when it comes to accurate knowledge of that Bible Well thats because the Bible is most over-advertised & overrated books in the world and thats all it is, a book . It's very pretentious to claim it to be the word of God when its just a tribal mythology, justifying all kinds of violence to people who are not members of the tribe. Its a dead weight and deals with certain people of another time and pulls us back to an earlier period and can't break loose and move into a modern theology. To say that the members of this particular social group are the elite of God's world is a good way to keep that group together, but look at the consequences . What might be called the sanctified chauvinism of the Bible is one of the curses of the planet today. And this is because the theologians are people who interpret the vocabulary of scripture as if it were referring to supernatural facts the imagery that has to be used in order to tell what can't be told, symbolic imagery, is then understood or interpreted not symbolically but factually, empirically. It's a natural thing, but that's the whole problem with Western religion , the symbols are interpreted as if they were historical references. They're not . They're certainly is some common ground of being that exists what we all exist in as now we can fly from NYC to Tokyo in a matter of hours, there's an entire change now of the reality of an emerging global community as one unit . One of the problems today is that society has moved into a multicultural scenario that renders these culture-bound inherited mythological systems archaic - like the Christian, the Jewish, Islamic or the Hindu. It will in time work itself out , but for now there is no one clear view as the world has opened up so fast & changed so remarkably in just the last century .The total globe is the society as we have been finding out economically that this is the big "truth". Chinese are as much our brothers now as the Vietnamese , Arab, Brazilian , Japanese , German , French or the Indian & Russian &African ... let the Christians stick this in their kingdom of heaven pipes & smoke it . Or the next time they pick up their I-phone to make a call up to God>
