oscumbag could use a lesson in humility...

Not so long ago, school children were taught that, in America, government is “of the people, by the people and for the people.”

Today, it is easy to see why most kids think that our government is “of Barack, by Barack and for Barack.”

After all, turn on any television and you are likely to see our president lecturing others about their inadequacies or bragging about his accomplishments.

There he is, pontificating about our SUVs and our wasteful energy consumption. Here he is, condemning religious institutions as intolerant simply because they do not want to pay for people’s contraceptives and abortions.

Wait five minutes and you’ll catch him attacking successful people, who have worked all of their lives, as part of that greedy 1 percent. Or you’ll hear him express righteous indignation at congressional leaders who dare to propose solutions to the nation’s troubles that differ from his own.

President Barack Obama does not convey the impression of a humble servant of the American people. He presents as an enlightened monarch — sent by the gods to heal the planet, unite the races, redistribute the wealth, and (of course) save the auto industry and pay off the unions.

It is an impression reinforced by Obama’s habitually self-referential language. Take, for example, his recent statements about Iran: “I reserve all options .?.?. My policy is not containment. .?.?. My policy is to prevent Iran from obtaining weapons of mass destruction.”

Not the “United States reserves all options.” Not, “it’s the policy of the United States of America.” But “I, Barack Obama, reserve all options.” It’s not about the country. It’s all about him.

Here is Dear Leader on the capture of Osama bin Laden: “I directed [the CIA] to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority.” “I met repeatedly with my national security team.” “I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and I authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden.”

Compare this to the language used by George W. Bush after the capture of Saddam Hussein: “The success of yesterday’s mission is a tribute to our men and women now serving in Iraq. The operation was based on the superb work of intelligence analysts who found the dictator’s footprints in a vast country. The operation was carried out with skill and precision by a brave fighting force.”

For Bush, military victories were a collective effort and the source of shared national pride. For Obama, they are occasions for personal bravado.

This attitude has led some political commentators to wonder if our president suffers from a narcissistic personality disorder. Clinical evidence abounds.

Defending his presidency to donors at a New York fundraiser, Obama said, “Around the world — Gandhi, Nelson Mandela — what they did was hard. It takes time. It takes more than a single term.”

Huh?

Did he really compare himself to Gandhi and Mandela? Or was he simply asking for more time to prove himself worthy of that Nobel Peace Prize?

Either way, the arrogance is astounding, but not surprising from a man who once likened his election to the West’s victory in the Cold War.

To be sure, Obama’s self-love has long been on display. In 2008 he bragged, “I know more about policies on any political issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m a better political director than my political director.”

Given the historic import of Obama’s 2008 candidacy, many voters gladly overlooked this man’s delusions of grandeur. In 2012, their patience may have worn thin.

... yet I can't vote for a party that is so contrary to women's rights.

Yes, you have stumbled not only onto the wrong board, but the wrong country too. There is no such political party here.

God gave us a brain so that we use it.

I see. So people that disagree with you are NOT using their brains.

ENOUGH said.................GOOD BYE, and I hope people on the next thread enjoy and appreciate your rigidity self-righteousness, and arrogance. I don't.

So you say you are leaving and too old "to fight" but then spew out some of the most outrageous liberal garbage I have read in a long time. That took real courage -- NOT!

Still, I will address your points:

1. Your "respect" for the commander-in-chief no matter his color: So who mentioned color? YOU DID! Typical. Never mind the disgusting things that Obama has done to our country and military in particular.

2. Abortion: You jump straight to the oldest and most ridiculous excuse for baby-killing. In the vast majority of genuine rape, they clean out the uterus right away -- walla, no pregnancy. But in the small number of cases where a pregnancy is the result of a real rape and it is not reported, then one is left to ask why kill an innocent baby who has done no wrong.

And as for your speaking for "women's rights." I've been a woman my whole life, and my "rights" are not enhanced by the likes of Obama allowing me to kill partially-born babies because the abortion didn't quite work and the little darling had the audacity to get out of the womb.

3. Planning and timing children: Yep, ever hear of birth-control? It's legal and readily available. And like the old saying goes, maybe you should give your daughter an aspirin and tell her to put it between her legs.

4. About the "hate" on this board: You are the one who is full of self-hatred. And in my opinion, if you base your vote on perceived fear that your daughter may be raped and be forced to have a totally harmless ultrasound (where did that crap come from?), rather than the destructive treason happening in the WH every day, then you also must hate the United States of America.

5. Finally, about Moochelle. Education about diet are one thing, but when they start taking away lunches that moms have packed for 4 year-olds, that is tyranny!

HI Bocor

"WOW, I guess I stumbled onto the wrong board. I think her hubby has make some great calls, and some terrible ones, not unlike other Presidents, he has kept some promises and ignored others, not unlike other Presidents"

Yes Lyndon Johnson comes to mind. America at war with no commitment to win. Only I don't remember LBJ apologizing to the enemy. It's even worse today announcing a withdrawal date. In the words of Harry Reid "This war is lost'.

"I now see that there is a lot of anger of this board, and I don't think I will revisit. I am too old to fight, we have no audience to influence, and I have too much military history to ever disrespect out commander in chief, whether he is black, while or brown."

Yes there is a lot of anger here. People see things going on under this regime that go against basic values we have tried to live up to our entire life. Many of us are sick and tired of people like you playing the RACE CARD. Herman Cain and Allen West are supported and respected by people here for their leadership and both are 100% African American. The attacks on Obama have nothing to do with his race it is his ideology.

"If my daughters was raped, became pregnant, I know the trauma would be hard to face. If that MEDICAL decision were made to terminate, I would be appalled that my little girl was put through the additional pain of having an unnecessary ultrasound procedure performed by people who do not know her, and are not sympathetic to her emotional pain. I may end up being disenfranchised as a Republican because I can't vote for Obama, yet I can't vote for a party that is so contrary to women's rights. Call me a man with short pants, but I respect my wife and my daughters and want then to be in control of their life and their choice to plan the timing and number of their children. God gave us a brain so that we use it."

When your daughter becomes pregnant the doctor has two patients. If the fetus is female, aren't you violating woman's rights by killing her? This is today's biggest civil rights issue.
