To ALL: Just got back from Comdex and I checked out MTI:

They had a kiosk in the FC-AL industry room with a single salesrep working the "crowd".
No significant traffic there. In fact, the FC-AL community had a meeting room FAR away
from the crowds, on the 2nd floor.

They also had one of their new "unannounced" FC-AL subsystems hooked up in the Mylex
hospitality suite. It will probably be shipping by the end of Q1. It is also NOT a MTI
manufactured product. Their subsystem locked up a few times over the show, but they are
not to blame. Their adapter card manufacturer still has a few bugs to work out.

MTI didn't have their own booth, anywhere. I expected more from them.

David
(For the record, NOT an MTI investor)

>For the record, FC (Fibre Channel) is not anticipated to have meaningful revenues untul
mid 98 or beyond for most companies. they have the solution if someone wants it in fact
they have JBOD if you want to try it out.<

I don't agree. Everybody is shipping in Feb/March. I spoke to a dozen vendors playing here.

Furthermore, for the most part, they agree that shipments of SCSI-based products are
already slowing down in anticipation to the release of FC-AL.

In other words, sales may not meet expectations because people are waiting for new
technology!
