If she can find the nest she can spray it, but if they are all mature she might have to call an exterminator. She should vacuum them up when she sees them until the exterminator comes and leave the vacuum cleaner outside after she uses it in case any find their way out.

We use those little spider traps. They open up like a little flat tube with adhesive inside. The spiders go in and get stuck. It does seem to keep the population down. You put them down by the edge of the floor in a dark spot, and anywhere you see spider evidence.

My wife used to call Terminix, which would come and spray something around the perimeter of the house. I think you can buy a similar product off the shelf at Home Depot and Lowes.

Aaaagh!!! Call an exterminator. But...does she have a shake roof? A lot of them live there and are difficult to eradicate if so.
