I'm not too sure what the participation rate of 'people with common sense' is in the bond market. Their pockets have been picked clean years ago. Hate to admit that I've given more than my fair contribution .... My guess is that the Fed and their proxies purchase greater than 85% of the available bonds placed on the market.

Its real tough calling the end of a multi decade bull market. My guess though is that bond market shenanigans will only end when the Fed's existence itself is seriously called into question. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be in the cards. Until then they'll basically place market prices where they like - most likely optimized to pick the pockets of whatever participant are left.
