I'm going to cancel all those channels too from DirectTV and use those reasons - Bill Maher and the Palin movie. The truth is I got 3 months free for all those extra channels signing up with Direct TV. I think I've watched one movie.

Time Warner had gotten up to $104 a month for just the cable channels (not the extra HBO, Showtime, etc.). DirectTV is $43 - big difference for the same stuff.

We've watched several old movies on Encore....but don't get either Showtime or HBO.....We both loved the John Adams series, and found out that we could order whatever we wanted for the length of the series, then cancel.....before you cancel, check with them to see what their rules are, then call back and cancel whatever you are going to cancel.....
