Not somehow. Totally. I think our system could and should be much better, but anyone who has traded foreign markets knows that America is the model to which others are trying to keep up. There are other decent markets, Switzerland comes to mind immediately, but they are small and inbred. Our markets are neither small nor inbred. Also, many players in our markets are large and capable of punishing those who try to rip them off. Suffice it to say, "pity the fool who tries to screw Bill Gross in Treasuries." The buy side is large and working with real money. The sell side is large and working with leverage. Guess who says "uncle" first?
