Yes, indeed, not many of us have a reliable crystal ball to predict the extent of a predicted outcome, Buffett included.
I'd say that what Buffett warned about would very likely occur. It was just a case of how severely it would affect markets and economies, which, in turn, would very likely affect the Gold price.
