The part that browns me off is that without the upcoming election, I doubt that he would show any interest at all in gasoline prices.

he wants higher energy prices, including gasoline. he'll get right back to work on it after the elections (even if he loses). he thinks higher prices will make us buy electric cars. i've got nothing against electric cars as long as no one is trying to force me to buy them.
