Status is number one, as in look, I'm a Senator, bow down and worship me...power is another as in the power to simply control people and make them do whatever you want...and money...these guys get all kinds of perks and sweetheart deals the entire time they are in office. These things atracts all the psychopaths, narcissists and sociopaths...everybody you don't want. The offices need to be more like technocratic jobs with no glamour or celebrity or stardom associated with it. If you are President for example, you should be like a GS-25 and nothing more. No big parties, no White House, no personal staff performing personal services and the like.
