Federalism and strict constitutionalism: Tim, I look at a whole different paradigm and consider a whole basket of different varibles than you and most conservatives do.

I start from the premise we are all one species living on spaceship earth. And that all cultures and countries are contrived i.e. we just created them. Then I try and see what we need to do to survive the future given all the modern dangers like nuclear weapons, worldwide pollution, over population, and the human singularity fast approaching and most importantly the human species failure to recognize its own blindness, ignorance and irrationality e.g. only 14% of the people in Mississippi and Alabama think Obama is a Christian. Everyone knows he is a Christian.

I have attended so many local meetings in my life, and listened to so many people either take a position because it simply benefits them or they are viscerally affected, I don't usually bother with them any more.

The sausage factory of democracy already starts at the local level with a zillion boards and commissions slowly hashing out ideas and so is moved forward two steps forward and one step back.

To be honest I don't thinnk we humans will last much longer without a huge cataclysm. We are just simply too irrational.
