There's an article on energy and oil prices in Time magazine this past week. Energy is a global commodity and will continue to go up in price with global demand and uncertainty. Many in this country don't seem to understand that supplies of energy are not sold to U.S. citizens at a special price at say $40 a barrel rather than at a world market price of over $100 a barrel. The Keystone pipeline will make us more dependent rather than less dependent on high-priced dirty tar sands oil. We need to become much more fuel efficient to offset the future price increases even if it means not driving an SUV to get groceries anymore. Getting off oil all together is a huge national security, economic, and environmental issue -- but few in Washington want to admit this or commit the resources to make a transition to a better fuel source. Big Oil owns most of the decision makers in Washington D.C...it's sad but true.
