The gist of his position is:

Rick Santorum believes that federal obscenity laws should be vigorously enforced. “If elected President, I will appoint an Attorney General who will do so.”

I see nothing wrong with that and it's no different that what Gingrich and Romney have said they'd do, whether or not they include it on their website or not.

It's pretty clear that this is more than simply having a position about enforcing existing laws.

You're reading that into it. He explicitly says federal obscenity laws should be enforced.

And why would we care what "obscene" is as long as it is between consenting adults? ... And I am not willing to give my government dictatorial powers to enforce obscenity laws that are open to interpretation and shouldn't be there in the first place.

I perceive your real objection is that there shouldn't be any such laws (even though there are) and so therefore we shouldn't enforce them. Well, you should vote for Obama in that case. Obama subjectively decides what laws the Justice Dept will enforce or not, including on this and many other issues, like immigration and DOMA. It seems your problem with Santorum is you're afraid he means what he says.

Why does Santorum care? Why is it on his website and not anybody else's website if there is no difference in their positions?

I don't know. Maybe Romney was lying and doesn't intend to enforce laws in this area. Maybe he won't enforce other laws on the books either. I do think if Romney doesn't mean to enforce existing laws, he ought to say so .. preferably on his website.

We're not talking kiddie porn or rape porn. There the issue is far deeper than the fact that it is recorded and the rights of those who are violated have to be protected.

How do you know that? I perceive kiddie porn law is enforced, though perhaps on a state level. I believe that rape porn exists though. There's a whole lot of other weird stuff out there.
