World Cup and Olympic Games construction will do more to that sector:
KPMG partner director in Brazil... saying that Brazil's steel industry has and will continue to benefit from the preparation works for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.

Steelmakers have been working to ensure the sector can meet the growing activity as a result of the sporting events, for which investment in infrastructure is the top priority.

Mr Gutiérrez said that "What ends up happening when these major sporting events come along is the acceleration of a series of investments that were usually pending for years, sometimes decades."

He added that the country's growth and the continuous search for opportunities and expansion of businesses related to these events has turned Brazil into a huge construction site.

Mr Gutiérrez said that "Steelmakers' investment plans for the coming years have decreased but the preparation works have generated more movement in their supply chains to implement large projects that were already underway. The country should take this opportunity seriously, focusing on leaving a positive legacy for society and making the right decisions to invest limited resources in areas where the country needs the most support."
