Hansen said, the sea level could rise as much as 80 feet by the time today’s children reach middle age.

While the prediction is pretty crazy, I notice he's more careful about the wording then a lot of similar past predictors. It could rise 80 feet. Then when it doesn't even rise 80mm he can say "well I said it could happen, not that it necessarily would". Also he made the prediction for 40 years out, and everyone's likely to forget it before 40 years comes around.
