(1) On the futures trading floor, how much of what they do is local, in the sense of traders dealing with price movements and nothing more; and how much of it is remote, in the sense of traders fulfilling orders originating from outside their environment?

(2) Explain the AMEX:SPY "S&P Depository Receipts" thingy to me. It appears to be like a stock that people can buy or sell, which is the S&P index, rather than trading index options, which are inherently more risky (because of leverage).
