Sorry to be stupid Roy but if my Mac is completely up to date do I reinstall something? I am running 10.7.3 now. Oh, no worries! Yes, you'll want to update (reinstall) 10.7.3 with the 10.7.3 combo updater, you can find that here: support.apple.com Be sure to start up with extensions off (safe mode) by holding down the Shift key, that will at least determine if there are any 3rd party startup files causing the fan and slowdown issues.
