Well, I do think it's hypocritical because Locke's argument for non-toleration of atheists and Catholics is actually similar. I{n both cases, he's saying that by being atheist or Catholic, people have made themselves either untrustworhy (in the case of atheists) or disloyal (in the case of Catholics). And I don't think they understand (or are purposely misinterpreting) Locke. Finally, I also think bringing up Locke's name is a form of argument from authority.
